DENSO Manufacturing Canada joins the Tour de Guelph Hall of Fame

For more than a decade, Tour de Guelph has rallied the community together. This year, we are proud to welcome DENSO Manufacturing Canada into our Hall of Fame, recognizing six years of partnership that has grown stronger and more impactful with every ride.

DENSO’s connection to the event began somewhere unexpected: a factory floor. The company first partnered with Guelph General Hospital on an efficiency study resulting in the development of a strong relationship. Through conversations with The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital, DENSO decided to get involved with Tour de Guelph, saying “it was a pretty natural partnership”.

For the DENSO team, their favourite part of the event is the ride itself. Each year, the group turns out in matching blue shirts, creating a “blue wave” of riders and volunteers. “There’s an emotional connection to the cause, and it’s great to see everybody come together,” shares John Klassen, President at DENSO Manufacturing Canada. “I bring my children out to ride, and to have all the DENSO folks and everyone else cheering us on is my favourite part.”

That “blue wave” at the start line has become one of the most recognizable sights of the Tour de Guelph. The DENSO team pours hours into rallying their corporate team together, fundraising throughout their office in the months leading up to the fourth Sunday in June. DENSO’s event day contributions have also grown year over year. The company has served as the event’s Snack and Hydration sponsor in both 2024 and 2025, keeping riders fueled with water, electrolytes and snacks at rest stops along the routes. Additionally in 2025, DENSO donated bicycles through its Build-a-Bike program. This year, the company is escalating its commitment further by stepping up as a co-presenting sponsor of Tour de Guelph, alongside long-time supporter, Label Design.

The team sees no reason to slow down. “Our plan with Tour de Guelph is always to be growing,” says Klassen. “I expect that over the years, we’ll continue to grow our contributions and our participation.”

Klassen also has a message for other businesses in the community: there is room for everyone. “Tour de Guelph is a great way for companies to be connected to the community, show their support, and ultimately help people.”

Reflecting on their Hall of Fame induction, Klassen says, “I am extremely proud of my team. We give simply for the spirit of giving, but this recognition means a lot.”
