TOUR DE GUELPH RIDER PROFILE: FRANCESCO MARASCIA
For Francesco Marascia, cycling has always been more than just a sport—it’s a part of who he is. Long before he became an entrepreneur, a husband, and a father, he was a kid on a bike, pedaling alongside his siblings and friends, creating memories that would shape his love for the ride. He doesn’t quite remember when he first started, but he’s fairly certain he was on two wheels before he could even walk.
Today, Francesco still rides—not just for the thrill of the open road, but for something bigger. A devoted husband to Dr. Thamara Marchiani and father to two daughters, Maddalena and Paula, he balances family, business, and his passion for cycling. Even their dog, Bocconcini, is part of the journey, often watching as he trains indoors when the weather doesn’t cooperate.
Beyond cycling, Francesco and his wife are active members of the community, supporting local businesses and causes that make a difference. For the past four years, they have channeled that energy into the annual Tour de Guelph fundraiser.
Francesco has ridden over 100KM at this event each year while Thamara has supported his cycling journey through Paisley Dental, reinforcing their mutual belief in giving back.
“I believe in leading with kindness and compassion, but also with resilience and spirituality,” he says. “True leadership is about finding balance between mind, body, and soul. When we take care of all three, we become stronger—not just for ourselves, but for those around us.”
His connection to Guelph General is like so many others, recalling late-night ER visits for himself or his kids when expert care and reassurance matter most. Francesco notes that at some point, everyone in the community will rely on the hospital, which is why he’s made it his mission to support it.
In his first year riding, he built a team of three. By his third year that number grew to 12 riders. This year his team, The Molar Rollers, has partnered up with the Guelph Triathlon Club, proudly working together to raise funds that will support the health of this community. They are now known as The Molar Rollers GTC Edition. With Paisley Dental proudly sponsoring the 113km route, Francesco’s goal is to recruit as many riders as possible and raise more than ever. The Molar Rollers GTC Edition welcomes anyone who shares their values of community, kindness, and compassion. If you believe in making a difference and love the challenge of the ride, there’s always room on the team.
But for Francesco, Tour de Guelph is more than just fundraising; it’s about inspiring the next generation to give back.
“It’s our job to help shape future leaders,” he says. “If we can show them that success isn’t just about what you achieve, but about how you give back, then we leave the world in a better place.”
On Sunday June 28th, look for Francesco and The Molar Rollers GTC Edition out on the course. Because for him, every mile pedaled is another step toward making a difference.
